Letter from Mayor Zabrocki

ZabrockiLetter from the Tinley Park Village Board:

The Mayor, Village Clerk and Village Trustees support the Tinley Park Bobcats in their endeavor to secure funding for their Challengers Program which will assist in improving the quality of life for those with disabilities through their participation in athletics.

The Tinley Park Bobcats is a non-profit 501-C3 volunteer organization. They offer a variety of recreational and instructional programs which include soccer, baseball, softball to name a few. Tinley Park Bobcat Challengers Division is a baseball league for individuals with special needs and serves participants throughout the south suburbs of Chicago. This is the largest program of its kind in the Chicagoland area and serves approximately 100 individuals, primarily children.

For many individuals with special needs, playing baseball on a traditional ball field is extremely difficult, dangerous and at times even impossible. The lack of an accessible field can be a barrier to participation in the game. The Tinley Park Bobcats are building a handicap accessible baseball field at Bettenhausen Park in Tinley Park, Illinois which will eliminate the challenges and restrictions which currently exists.

The Tinley Park Park District has provided the land for the fields. The Tinley Park Bobcats need to raise an additional $175,000 to bring this project to fruition.

We are soliciting your support of this worthwhile project.

Respectfully yours,

Edward J. Zabrocki
Tinley Park Mayor
